Now that you’ve cleaned your RV and have it prepared for Spring, the next job on your plate is to prepare yourself for the season. Without fail, chances are high that we’ve all THOUGHT we’ve had everything prepped and packed for camping, only to find out that we actually forgot something. I’ll go ahead and start off with a few camping reminders to prep you for a successful camping trip.
Camping Reminders:
- Repair Gear
When’s the last time you hiked in snow or through wetlands? Did your feet get cold and wet due to holes/tears in your shoes? If so – REPLACE THEM. I mean, c’mon. Wet. Socks. They’re the worst. Need I say more?
Okay. So maybe it’s not your shoes that are the problem. Maybe it’s your tarp or blankets. Whatever you have that is prone to rips and tears, you may want to double check them before going on a trip. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
- Charge Up
What’s worse than a dead battery? *Crickets* Yeah. Nothing. Imagine taking a stroll in the forest after sunset and your flashlight dies. Been there, done that. (It was like a scary movie where the victim is frantically running for their life in a dark forest – it wasn’t fun.) If you forget everything, just remember to replace your batteries, charge everything, and bring extra batteries. Just because you think something won’t happen to you means that it probably will. Be prepared.
- Wear and Bring Protective Gear
Waterproof. Reflective. Shock absorbent. Durable. You name it. You’re going to want to have protective clothing and gear to protect yourself AND your electronics. It’s going to be beautiful outside one day and then a couple hours later be raining and thundering; it’s inevitable. Bring waterproof clothing with you in your backpack. you’ll be happy you did.
More importantly, though, you want to protect your electronics. If I get rained on, I can dry off. If I fall a few feet, I’ll get a couple scratches (heck, I might even cry) – but I’ll survive. However, if your camera or phone gets rained on or dropped, it’ll probably break [and die]. Spend the extra money and protect them – it’ll be cheaper in the long run.
Camping Reminders: The Bottom Line
