How Our nuCamp Trailers Made Our Dream Life Possible

This blog post was written by nuCamp’s TAB 400 ambassadors, Mandy and Kendrick.

Hi friends — we’re Mandy and Kendrick. Today, we wanted to open up a little about how, over the last decade, living in our nuCamp trailers has allowed us to travel, chase adventure, and still make a living with smiles on our faces.

Mandy and Kendrick with their TAB 400, Little Bear. They lived in Little Bear for four years before upgrading to a newer TAB 400.

The leap that started it all

Mandy with her first nuCamp teardrop trailer, Birdsong.

Ten years ago, Mandy was living what you’d call a “traditional life.” Steady job, stable apartment, respectable future… and yet she was deeply unhappy. Something inside was tugging — she needed to find her own happiness, even if it meant turning everything upside down.

Kendrick was also traveling full-time when he met Mandy on the road.

Photography was her passion, and she dreamed of teaching workshops out in the wild. A tiny travel trailer seemed like the best way to make that happen. Trouble was, the only thing her car could tow was something really small. Enter the nuCamp TAG teardrop trailer — the perfect little nest that would crack open her new life.

Kendrick’s story wasn’t too different. He was on track as a chemical engineer, set up for a long climb up the corporate ladder. But the thought of being locked into that life forever didn’t bring him joy — it filled him with dread. So, he made a leap into the unknown, too, moving into the back of his Toyota Tacoma. It gave him a taste of freedom, even while he continued to work.

Two tiny lives come together

When we met, it was pretty much instant kismet. Two minimalists with big dreams — of course, we’d end up together. Mandy’s TAG had plenty of room for two (we promise!), and we started figuring out what it meant to not only live together on the road, but also to work together from wherever we parked.

The trailers that built our life

Over the last decade, we’ve lived in five different nuCamp trailers. Each one played a huge role in shaping our lives and teaching us lessons we never expected.

  • Birdsong: Mandy’s very first TAG, affectionately named Birdsong, showed her that working and living on the road was possible. It opened her eyes — and her heart — to this lifestyle. Even though Birdsong’s time ended sadly, it was the best kind of beginning.
  • Phoenix: This was our first tiny home together, and oh boy, was it tiny! Living that close taught us what “things” really mattered. Many tears were shed while learning some early lessons together! Phoenix let us reach some of the most remote, beautiful places and gave us the space (literally and figuratively) to figure out our shared dreams.
  • Rocky: Our first big upgrade — a nuCamp TAB 320. We still laugh about sitting across that little table and exclaiming, “We own a mansion!” Rocky carried us from the top of Alaska to the tip of Mexico. It was our rolling HQ as we hosted photography workshops, guided backpacking trips, and filmed our YouTube series. We even used Rocky as a home base to fly in and out of for other gigs.
  • Little Bear: As our work grew (and so did our pile of gear), we knew we needed more space. Enter our TAB 400, Little Bear. This became home for the next four years, giving us room to store all our photography and camping equipment, plus a dedicated table that Mandy loved for editing photos. Little Bear let us live right out in the mountains, but still keep up with the daily grind. It was also Kendrick’s aid station during multiple 100-mile mountain races. And most memorably, it’s where we started hosting nuCamp rallies across the country. The friends we made? They’re family now.
  • Gunny: With new tech like lithium batteries, solar, and Starlink, we finally decided to upgrade again — not bigger, just better. So we moved into Gunny, another TAB 400. Now we have a mobile office that can keep us working from literally anywhere.

A real life, not just a highlight reel

We want to be honest with you: life on the road isn’t always as glamorous as Instagram makes it look. It’s hard work. Things break. You’ll have tough days. It’s not for everyone.

But for us? It’s absolutely worth it. Because of these little trailers, we’ve spent the last decade chasing sunrises in the mountains, building a business we love, and meeting incredible people along the way.

If you’re dreaming of a different kind of life, we hope our story encourages you to take the leap.

And here’s one final piece of truth: when you buy a nuCamp trailer, you’re not just buying a camper — you’re buying into a whole new family, for better or worse! This community is hands down the most supportive we’ve ever found. So if you see us out there on the road, come say hi. We’d love to meet you.

Here’s to chasing your dreams, wherever they take you.

The webpage does not allow to ask for brochures as it asks for a US, Canada or Corea address.

Is there any chance you can help me get one or some brochures?
